Conventions of a Poster

1-) The poster is not a piece of art...

  • It is a marketing tool designed by teaser companies to sell tickets for a movie or product.
  • Use/apply the advertising acronym (AIDA)
  • AIDA stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action.

2-) Poster must have a big and bold title...

  •   Simple yet effective.
  •  Could be be smartly designed.
  •  Eye catching presence.

3-) You do not have to feature your actors...

4-) Avoid including too many colours...
  • Too many colours will draw the audiences eye but it will also loose the meaning of the message.

5-) Know the movie's genre...

6-) Create a hook that will psychologically catch the audience's attention...
